Facelift

A facelift is an aesthetic surgical procedure that creates a younger-looking face. The procedure can reduce sagging skin. It can also help smooth the skin's folds on the cheeks and jawline. A facelift is also called a rhytidectomy.

Risk
  • Hematoma (1% - 4%)

  • Sensory Nerve Injury (1% - 7%)

  • Motor Nerve Injury (Facial nerve neuropraxia/injury) (0.5% - 2.6%; the vast majority are temporary and resolve spontaneously)

  • Hypertrophic or Unfavorable Scarring (1% - 3%)

  • Skin Necrosis or Slough (1% - 3%; risk is significantly higher in active smokers)

  • Alopecia or Hairline Distortion (1% - 3%)

  • Seroma (1% - 5%)

  • Infection (< 1%)

  • Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) / Pulmonary Embolism (PE) (< 0.1%)
